Looked up 'Infinite Jest', got $22.09 result and it's out of stock.
I just bought it for $9.99 on Amazon.
Dang. I'm not having much luck with these APIs. Out of interest, was it searching the right country in the dropdown?
Here's an example of some of the API issues I posted on HN:
- The autocomplete API is powered by Google Books, which returns some pretty iffy results at times. It's also rate limited, but not as bad as the others
- Goodreads API doesn't support auto complete and has no plans to. I guess it's too chatty.
- Ebay ISBN search only works for some books. There's no clear indication as to what will and what won't return a result list. Here's an example bug raised in 2012 with no action. https://forums.developer.ebay.com/questions/1079/finditemsby...
What country? Where?
There's a wee country selector over here. It tries to detect your location but AdBlockers often interfere with this.
Search is broken now. I can see the country dropdown however, its in AUD while I'm in America.
Ooh, nice. Tried searching for books but showed up nothing (those titles were accessible from searching within Amazon)
Thanks for taking a look. As per the other comment, do you know if the country detection was working - and that it was searching the right stores?
Hey everyone, I'm trying my hand at both my first startup idea, and my first full stack project. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, as it would help guide me on which features to build out next. It's a Node + Angular + Heroku stack.
Beautiful mark.
Think this looks super nice, but as someone who's worked on something similar in the past, isn't a pretty massive issue that Amazon almost always going to be cheaper and easier to use.
This is a freakin' gorgeous Aussie-made site, but in terms of comparing book prices it doesn't compare to Booko.com.au just yet. I'll be keeping my eye on pppulp though!
