Help us choose a font for our website

5 years ago from , Product Designer

Hi guys, could you help us choose font for our fintech website? We're currently in process of deciding which font we'll be using and we want to stay away from Avenir, ProximaNova, Whitney, DIN, Helvetica. We have paid subscription on fonts.com and typography.com, any ideas?

Thanks! :)

Since you're in fintech your font choosing process should start with numbers, for example, Proxima-nova is terrible with the numbers while DIN is amazing.

You should probably ask these guys what is their font choosing process and how they always end up using open sans and proxima :P

I also think an important question to ask is WHY you want to stay away from "Avenir, ProximaNova, Whitney, DIN, Helvetica"...

I thought that one would be obvious, but simply because they're overused. If we can find it, we'd like to use something less common but equally good.

Choosing fonts could be a deep process and without knowing anything about what you want to portrait your company to look like, it's difficult suggesting any font.

Yet, I have was browsing through Deals section and I came across Bio Sans, they seem good to me.

But seriously, get the whole process right of choosing a font. No offence to you and your process.

    Cheers!

Thanks for your suggestion! Are we 'cheating' the process of choosing a font 'cause we're trying to cut hours of browsing by asking industry experts for suggestions of some good, lesser known ones? :)

That wouldn't be cheating but the bests are bests because of some reason, they are crafted carefully and designed well as whole. Yet, the ones which are less known or even free aren't bad. Of course they aren't bad.

I've used Aileron for several projects, and they my current favourites. Additionally, they are of 16 weights and completely FREE. Do check it out if you'd wish too :)

    Comic Sans.

No, seriously, it is impossible to suggest any font without any other knowledge of the brand, the type of site, etc. Hopefully you want to choose something based on the overall look and usage, and not just pick a "nice" font without any context.

I can't give out all that info and no worries, we definitely weren't going to 'pick a "nice" font without any context" else we would use Nexa Rust Script for copy :P I assume my question came off as looking for exact solution, but it was more of asking for (less popular fonts as) suggestions based on industry that we could check out and see if they could work for us.
