This is nice but I'm still waiting for the ability to answer direct messages on the web version.

What do you guys think? Will Instagram have a full functional web app someday?

I don't think they will ever allow users to upload pics from PC. Other stuff like exploring popular images, definitely.

I agree adding web upload functionality is a slippery slope and gets away from product focus, but many popular accounts (especially brands) upload professionally shot & edited non-mobile photography already. It's been happening Instagram's entire existence. I don't see any negatives to allowing web uploads, aside from moving away from their current (extreme) web simplicity.

I constantly check Facebook and Twitter on my laptop while working, yet I never think to check Instagram unless I'm bored with my iPhone. I never see an Instagram post on the web unless it's embedded on another website. Adding upload functionality and discovery could change that, even if the world is moving away from web. The vast majority of instagrams would still be mobile uploads, even if the non-mobile flood gates opened.
