So, I was just commenting on someone's post and because it had an emoji in my comment, the site posted a blank comment with none of my text. I think building support for emojis or at least warning someone when they're typing that everything will be lost would be sweet! Love all the fine touches to the site and thanks for the community!!
The big one would be a nice addition, too! As Facebook does it with the Messenger.
Agreed. There are a few things that need to be done under the hood before we can enable emojis, but they're coming. Hang in there!
Three years later and they haven't even fixed the bug where your entire comment is deleted if you use an emoji.
Bonus points if DN integrates the :emoji: syntax on desktop browsers
Why is this so important?
The importance is about not losing your comment if there is an emoji inside of the comment. But ideally, why not have them?
Why is this comment so important?
Because you wanted to express your opinion, and some people want to do it with emojis.
When used appropriately, they can help more clearly convey the tone of a post. Sometimes, simply reading the words, people can interpret them to be angry, mean, etc... and plopping in a emoji can help.
HOW DID YOU DO THAT!?
