Scrolling around, panning or zooming in photoshop can be painful, however it turns out all of these areas are affected by whether you have Rulers and Guides on or off.
Here's a video of how PS performs with and without Rulers
Having to turn off guides when not in use is inconvenient but it does make moving around a lot less painful.
I keep Photoshop fast by never using it.

Btw, did anyone notice that centering in a selection doesn't work anymore with artboards? This one is a really nice bug :)
Yep, confirmed here: It centres in the artboard, not the selection.

Nope. It’s still a thing. Rulers on = scrolling molasses.
I find that PS works great on my Windows machine, but is slow and clunky on my macbook. Hopefully this should help, thanks.
The key point is disable anything you don’t need. Like Rulers, Font Preview, Animated Zoom, etc.
Yeah, Font Preview is another good tip (I find font previews a bit annoying anyway).
I had forgotten about font preview, and had it turned on - thanks for the reminder. Animated zoom never caused any issues for me, and I quite like it.

No idea why this is still a thing in pro design apps, I KNOW what my fonts look like I'd rather have the saved memory and cycles of just drawing a list of plain text than loading every font off disk
Let's be grateful Adobe still allows us to turn the previews off.
Could have sworn Sketch had a preference for this at one point.
Sketch shows font previews and there is no way to turn it off. It doesn't cause any performance issues though.
Never had Photoshop performance issues on PC since Photoshop 4.0 (which used to crash all the time). But I know, Mac, fonts <3 harharharh. Not everyone is making hipster products these days, some of us do enterprise software.
