I've been starting to use Semplice to build my new portfolio, and I'm a little curious to see what the popular preference is for the rest of the DN community. Let me know with a comment below; thanks!
From scratch. Design, code, deploy :)
sweat, tears, chips, and salsa
never can go wrong with jekyll
I use the Semplice Theme for WordPress: http://www.semplicelabs.com/ It´s not just a theme but a visual editor and portfolio manager. I recommend it highly!
I use and love https://middlemanapp.com
(I think you're going to get all sorts of answers.)
I've tried squarespace, didn't find it useful to have a portfolio (good for a blog, tough) and switched to Semplice last week. Still need some time to discover it but looks very promising with the latest update.
All my works are on Behance but they are just like concepts or redesign that I did to learn the basics. (you can find here: https://www.behance.net/ilpecoranera ) Now that I am working with real people and companies I would like to make a new one and I would like to build from zero on my own... it will be hard but there is no rush so I can take all the time I need.
Mostly from scratch. HTML/CSS/JS all built on top of Foundation's grid.
I would advise you to increase general font-weight to at least 300. I've had some hard time reading through your site on both of my monitors :(
I've tried Semplice, but it felt too restricted. I've finally made my portfolio with Webflow.com. It's perfect for people like me, who knows some HTML/CSS/JS but don't really want to code.
I builted my last two portfolios with bootstrap (and sweat and tears too, obviously).
I use Behance. It's basically Tumblr with a tad more cachet.
It's okay for simple UX concepts and lets me embed audio presentations, which are one of my strengths.

To build my portfolio:
+1 for Semplice
Middleman + git + codeship makes for a great stack.
I thought about Semplice as well, but after couple days I decided to build everything from the beginning by my own. I am finishing it now and I think will be better than Semplice :)
I currently use Squarespace. Overall, it's pretty great for serving up something fairly nice that works well on retina devices and everything else. It can be a bit finicky and I'd like to have a bit more control over the code, so I've been considering Semplice as well. I've yet to buy it and dive into that though.
Sqaurespace has worked great for me, but I also have work on behance. I've seen people able to pull off some surprisingly great displays of their work with behance. I might need to revisit sometime!
