I'm here in Los Angeles and it seems like new top stories taper off everyday right around lunchtime, meaning the top stories page does't really change after that point. Just wondering where everyone is from!
Tallinn, Estonia. The land of e-residency and Skype.
Linz, Austria here!
Vienna, Austria represent!
Hätt nicht gedacht hier nen Öberösterreicher zu finden... ;-)
Wir sind Überall! :-)
Southeast Asia here.
I'm an American who has been living in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam for a while now.
Cool, what made you pick and up and head there? My girlfriend went to Southeast Asia last year and said Vietnam was her favorite!
I was always in search of "that place" that ticked the most boxes for me. Have been all over. Vietnam did it for me. Knew it the moment I came here.
I came here on a visa run from Thailand 4 years ago. I moved to Saigon shortly after.
From the weather to the people to the crazy city to the ease of getting out to travel to the value, it just works for me. Love it here.
I wrote an article on it on Medium a few years back. It has gotten even better here since then.
Hailing from the Midwest here (just posted an article on why here on DN)! Iowa at the moment, to be specific. :)

Nice, I'll check it out. I'm actually from central IL haha. Moved out to Cali in late 2011. Some of my close friends went to Iowa State.
What's the biggest difference you have noticed between Cali and Illinois?
There are some large differences.
Pick the nicest Midwest day, which would likely happen in the Spring or Fall... and imagine that essentially every day of the year. When I go home for Christmas, I'm typically leaving LAX with it sunny and 80 degrees and going to IL where its 25 degrees and icy/snowy...
California has pretty much every outdoor activity the US has, all in one state. The ocean, mountains, and desert, and city make it a big playground. I've literally had fun in the desert (Palm Springs), took a tram up the mountains (@ 8000ft) where it was lush and green, had drinks on rooftop bar downtown, and had my feet in the sand at the beach... all in one day.
The web industry is ripe out here. Every designer/UX guy I know has jumped around to different jobs in the area, multiple times in the last 4 years. And the nice thing is you can bump up your salary requirement each time. I can talk more about this in another post if anyone is interested.
There are some compromises, too, by the way. I won't delve into them but the traffic is insanely bad as you've heard. And the cost of an apartment/house is outrageous, especially in Santa Monica which is a pretty hot spot.
But at the end of the day, I still call Illinois home, since that's where most of my family and friends still reside.
+1 for the Midwest! Rockin' out in Indiana myself.
Ditto, +1 for Iowa!
Awesome! Iowan devs/designers are few and far between.
Where in Iowa are you based out of?
No doubt. Cedar Falls to be exact. Yourself?
Oh, cool! I have a lot of family from there and will be headed there for Thanksgiving.
I'm from the Algona area. Definitely not a bustling tech hub, but I'm into remote work right now, anyway. Haha!
From Chicago, pay less than $500 a month for rent in the south side :)
That's awesome! Midwest is best. ;)
Ha, that's pretty legit. Is your job local, or do you commute? Or work remotely?
Well I also have two roommates. I ride my bike to work. But I will be leaving soon to another company and will be driving instead.
Nope, beautiful coloRADo!
I think it's more that we all start our day on here and put our head down further in the day. I know thats what I do...
Hilarious, but definitely some truth to that.
Bergen, Norway. :)
We've travelled this road a few times before:
Ah. I'm actually new to DN (from this summer), and never thought to research the topic. However, this reminds me of the interesting concept of "reposts", like in Reddit or Imgur, and how reposts are old content for power users but still new content for newer users... it's sort of a conundrum to me. Anyway that's a different conversation.
That's fair. In any case, welcome aboard, Alex. Thanks for joining :).
Switzerland here !
Am I the only one here from England...? haha
Yup, the only one out of tens of thousands of users to be from England! Sadly I'm not the only one from Scotland.
