    Great Logo. But bad Mark.

its cluttered and doesn't look good in favicon. Could be simplified. Also I wish the top h-line of "5" is little more longer.

Hi - I'm one of the designers at 500px.

I've always known design communities are tough on rebrands - rightfully so - and now I get to sit on the other side of it! Glad to hear some of you like our new brand. We knew going into this that some people wouldn't like it, but that's okay. We wanted something bold and a little unorthodox to represent us, and we hope that it grows on you, like it did on us.

I like the logotype, the mark is trying really hard.

Wow, getting a lot of flak at Designer News.

    Meanwhile on Dribbble... https://dribbble.com/shots/2291765-Meet-the-New-500px

The mark definitely takes a couple moments to resolve when you see it. At first I wasn't sure what I was looking at, then I began looking for the visual pun. I'm not sure there is a pun, though maybe they are trying to reference camera lenses? It could use some simplification, but at least it is distinct and I think memorable.

As a side note I think the mark will be lots of fun to "press" on touch devices, because of the concentric circles.

The logotype is pretty chill. Very clean lines and just distinct enough.

Not a fan -- really poor work. The logo is too wide and too thin. The mark is just awful. A great example of smooth animations clouding judgement. In my opinion, they should've dropped the px all together, and did a natural progression of the old infinity symbol.

    But man, that mark ...

They definitely missed the mark on that Mark.

The logo looks cheerful, the mark is nothing like that. It's somehow awkward.

But all things considered, the Mark seems to fit what 500px tries to become, given their last iOS update. What on earth are they thinking?

    I used to love 500px. :(

I'm completely stoked on the new mark. It is original, fun, creative and feels right at home with the community that they've created. Also, it looks like a damn camera! C'mon… that's awesome.

Super happy to see something that unique being pushed out in to the world.

Not a fan. Old mark looks a lot cleaner.

I literally never knew it was pronounced "500 P X". I've always referred to the site as "500 Pixels".

This confusion is something they alluded to fixing, but the superscripted logotype still isn't clear. I'm not sure they can ever fix it.

Not sure why but I've always read the px as 'pics' personally, like 500 pics. I think it is pixels which makes more sense with the px, but not in terms of photography (to me at least). New logo looks cool but still doesn't make the name any clearer.

Not feeling it especially the mark. Looks like it’s trying way to hard to be whatever it wants to be.

That animation of the mark - is it just me or is there a section of it where the central section just 'pops' into being. It's all very smooth, progressive shape animation then it's as though someone needed to finish it quickly so just shortened a bunch of frames.
