A designer visiting LA: what to do?

over 4 years ago from , Lead Digital Designer

Hey guys, me and my girlfriend (both designers) are travelling to LA for a couple of weeks (7-18 October) and I was wondering if there are any meetups or events we should be aware of while we're there, or if anyone is up to meet and have a drink around. We'd love to meet people there, specially from the area.

And this besides being a (selfish) personal, post, I thought it could also serve for other designers looking to visit LA in the future, with recommendations of places to see while there.

Thanks!

Get some outside inspiration while you're here. If you like to hike, there's spots in Malibu, Palos Verdes & Hollywood. Shoot, even the Murphy Ranch Trail (aka the Nazi Trail) in Pacific Palisades is pretty cool. Hope that's still up. Just do a Yelp search for hiking in those locations. If you want to journey farther out, there's plenty of mountains, deserts, and beaches to traverse through.

If you want to do some cityscape type of walks, Venice is cool. The Pasadena area has some areas to just drive and stop and shoot pics. Anywhere in the hills such as Hollywood Hills or even the Getty to get some wide LA views are cool. Hope you have fun.

BTW, I stay 15 minutes south of LAX.

Silicon Beach. I have a feeling most of the places you'll go will be in Santa Monica.

I'm visiting this weekend through the next week for Adobe MAX, and was also curious about this! Not going to have all to much to do Saturday and Sunday. Anyone have suggestions?
