I am looking for some great examples of of non-trendy web design. Things that buck the trend of hero images and sans-serifs for something more artsy. Frank Chimero's site is kinda like what I am thinking.
SiteInspire has some pretty great examples. There are definitely some trendy ones in there, but not overloaded.
I think that Hover States is what you're looking for. Lots of well curated sites there, and has a really good newsletter too.
You may want to have a look at the work of Dow-Smith Studio and No Plans
DSGN has lots of unusual design showcase and is updated regularly. You may want to check it out.
