Friends! As designers we all know the eternal pain that comes when we work on personal projects and for me working in the last couple of months wasn't easy, I always say: GET COMFORTABLE WITH FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE.

Is with great honour that I present you the new version (V.3) of my personal portfolio: THENERO – http://www.thenerodesign.com/

I get a lot of screen tearing on the Daft Punk page (the only one I tried), I think your scrolling effects aren't well optimized. Running a mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9, in Chrome.

Edit: On my desktop, late-2013 iMac (not Retina) running OS X 10.9 and the same version of Chrome, I don't see it. It's probably just a Retina thing.

Nice portfolio, but these loading screens man... brings me back to Flash days.

I really like the hover effect as well. I might suggest speeding up the delay between items. I scrolled past to a blank screen twice in a row.

Thanks Ian. I think the problem is in touch devices. It will be a problem with speed or with touchscreen feedback

I had major delays and I'm on a MacBook Pro. Don't skimp on optimization. Speed is super important. Love the transitions between items but the time it took to load reminded me on the Flash days.

By adding transform: translateZ(0); onto the class .module I managed to improve the performance of your work pages.

You should have tried progressive enhancement. I really don't like sites that require js to work. The visual aesthetics are nice though.

Are you browsing the web with javascript turned off?

That's like saying I don't care about internet privacy because I have nothing to hide. You're thinking about it the wrong way. I believe the internet should be a free and open place for everyone to use no matter their environment or disability. Just because you or I don't do something doesn't mean that everyone is that way. Plus sites usually get a big initial load performance benefit with progressive enhancement.

Why would I spent a ton of time on 1% of my total site traffic? Besides, in order to deliver your "amazing web experience" today, JavaScript is most certainly required to do that.

I'm not arguing against using JavaScript and having an amazing web experience. I'm saying start with a basic experience that all can use. Then add a layer on-top that brings the animation, ajax, and maybe some extra cool features not possible with-out JavaScript. It doesn't take a "ton" of time, just a reorganization of how you build a site. For web apps that are not not even conceivable to work with-out JavaScript at least have the app let the user know what the site is for and that it needs js to work. This portfolio is not a web app though and should conceivably work on a browser with-out js. Also as I mentioned above you can get a big initial load time benefit. I view the speed of a website as part of the experience and any way to make a page load faster can provide a much more seamless and enjoyable experience. mic dropped

It's a nice idea in theory, not in practice.

Looks good, but I can't use my spacebar or arrows to scroll and, in my opinion, loading screens shouldn't be on websites. Think of other ways to get the content on the page without having the user just watch a bar fill up. Even a playful animation that's more fun to watch would help out.

The aesthetics are gorgeous and the work is spot-on, but I found it a pain to navigate without my trusty keyboard.

How do you manage the content? Is there a CMS? Mind going into the development more. It would be really interesting hearing a breakdown from you on the design and development as well! Always love that stuff.

    Great stuff G

Really nice. The transitions are way slick and kind of bring it all together. I actually think the portfolio pieces are a little long. I found myself only getting about half way though them before I went back to the list. Definitely see the vanschneider influence. But thats not a bad thing at all I don't think. >_<

    Hello Marco,

That's one of the amazing portfolio I've seen. Congrats!

Did you use any jquery plugins to load the Project via Ajax? or Is that custom made?

Because I like the transition between the pages. I've been looking for similar transition experience. If that's custom made, could you make it open source? with minimal demo?

Amazing use of Gsap mate. Tonnes of movement, but in the right places. Draws the eye through content quite nicely.

    This is sooooo rad! The only thing I would do would be to get rid of these background graphics (http://cl.ly/image/1l3p1g270H3z) I don't think you need them at all, really good :'}
