Did you read the article?
There’s no questioning that the logo belongs to Airbnb now, as the company wouldn’t use a logo it didn’t have full rights to and protections for. But it’s an interesting little coincidence, and shows how even hours and months of design can produce results that have already been seen before.

Look, it's a Tuesday morning after an alcohol-fueled long weekend. It's going to take me a bit more coffee to get everything between my ears working 100%. I'm sorry for my harsh use of quotes and italics. Also, Harsh Italics is my new band name.

That books is really popular. When I say popular, I meant too popular between identity designers. Give me the privilege to doubt the process.

This is pretty interesting to see on the back of the Tokyo 2020 logo controversy. I highly doubt there was any plagiarism in either case, but it goes to show how small the web has made the design world. Both of these coincidences would have probably gone completely unnoticed 10-15 years ago.

Those trademark books are design classics and are definitely a source of inspiration for me personally, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a designer decided to straight-up rip off that logo and shoehorn it into their design process.
