I'm writing a post on medium analyzing minimal personal sites from the net. How they work, how they have been designed and coded, etc...

I wouldn't call them 'sites' per se. More like..plugs?
I agree, I think they are more like digital business cards. Which isn't a bad thing at all. It's very important to be visible on the web and to make sure you are the voice behind your name, but minimal sites are a bit more in depth.
Yes, obviously business card like sites have a right to exist, but some of the examples above don't even have a way to contact the person :)
