    Kippt founder and designer here.

This was definitely hard choice for us. We started Kippt as a sideproject and tool for ourselves. I wish could have found way to continue the service but we just didn't have the time and resources to do it.

Right now, I'd consider building a bookmarking service on top of Dropbox or something where the user own the links / files. It's a challenging market, and many services have closed their doors. Now it also includes us.

Sad to see another product shut down, even if it was a competitor. Good luck to the Kippt team on what's next.

If you're looking for a stable replacement, I welcome you to check out Dropmark (we've been around for 4+ years).

You can even bring your Kippt export with you: http://import.dropmark.com

I took the plunge with a premium account on Dropmark and I've been completely addicted since. Really awesome product. Within a week I've got all my favourite bookmarks, animated GIFs, interface inspiration, favourite quotes, stuff I want to buy, etc etc. Great service :)

I just started using Dropmark. Looks really nice.

      Few things :

I mostly (only) use the Chrome Extn to add inspiration / links. But it needs some improvement.

      1. There should be an option to change the Collection category in first page. As it defaults to last used one, I find it difficult when saving some other stuff.

eg : I found some great photos on xyz, I want to save it in Photos collection. Then I want to save the Website to another collection called "Photo sites" In that case, I have to click the hamburger icon and then should click the collection I wanted.

When adding many items to different category, this is very painful. A direct option to change those would be great.

Also, When clicking the icon, It feels very slow, I'm assuming all stuffs loading directly from Web each time. As its a Chrome Extn, why not make the content inside the App itself. only the content needs to be transferred when saved.

Also, when saving link, it tooks a lot of time to fetch / grab screenshot.. I don't want to wait untill it do that. Instead you can do it in the background right?

Also, please give an option to automatically close the sidebar when an item is added. This is when we are only adding a particular site we've seen. Not many items.

Next, it would be great if the sidebar automatically opens when I started dragging something, (dragdis does like that) Its awesome. Don't need to click each time.

Also, I'd like to see a warning if I'm about to add a link that is exist in my collection. Sometimes, I added it now, and I may forgot that and add the same after 2-3 months. so that's a duplication. (sometimes when saving new design , its needed to add it twice) so I'd like to see a notification that its already there (and a screenshot if possible)

It would be awesome if those features are there.

Hope this service will stay here for many years :)

      Good Luck!

Nice to hear Surjith! Also really appreciate the feedback — we're cooking up some updates to the browser extension and many of these points align with our thoughts, which is great. Stay tuned!
