You know the deal: share the clever domain names you optimistically purchased for projects that never got off the ground – and if you like a name, get in touch with whoever's offering!
Okay, here's what I got:
- subscribbly.com (for an artsy/DIY subscription service)
(okay that last one's a bit of an embarrassment tbh)
I lolled twice. Keep hold of that one.
I want socialnettwerking.com to be a thing so badly.
turnt.af is available for $129
Have an unlaunched project sitting in a folder somewhere, but it will probably never go live.
This is exactly how I work! I build something, finish it... never ship :). I have a mobile app that is done right now that I just don't want to manage lol.
Is this a common thing—to build but never launch products? Sounds like a need for a holding company and I just so happen to have a now idle "... Ventures, LLC."
Haha, interesting you should post this!
I bought beachfront.digital last week for the sole purpose of creating a simple service for people to show off their "digital beachfront property", which my co-workers and I joked a couple weeks ago is really cool domains.
I bought a book about APIs because I want to allow people to access their data from anywhere. Welp, so much for surprises, haha! Idk when I'll launch it, but it'll be this year for sure.
As for my "clever" domains, I have:
- (four Space Invader emojis).ws
- (Aries emoji).ws
- (silhouette of Japan emoji).ws
EDIT: DN doesn't appear to support emoji at the moment. Sad face emoji.
you have to love an emoji url... i got (diamond)(poop).ws (don't know how to do emojis on here)
Haha, nice! I just noticed that my other emoji URLs didn't show up! I was posting from DN Paper, crap.
I'll start the bidding off at 9k. Serious inquiries only.
I've got a few interesting ones, all of which are for sale :-)
Where are they for sale?
- unpaid.ninja (I actually want to turn this into a pro-bono type site)
I've got a few cool ones too, here you go :)
Who's ever interested in making an offer please reach me at email@example.com :)
digitalflan.com conserve.today and personal favorite: yourfontsucks.com
+1 for DigitalFlan.com.
This is interesting, I have few.
petrolsneakers.com (car/motorcycle/design related blog we used to have)
kans.io (kansio is finnish and translates to folder so english equivalent would be fold.er)
anglrs.com (there will be flyfishing stuff)
knapsack.io (use it once in a white for carrying online stuff)
Two of my short .com's.
Really dig keribu.com. Nice one.
Hah, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
That's really good
RIP ideas I 'never got around to'
I have psdbin.com. Bought it a few years ago hoping to share free PSD resources, but Sketch came out and I abandoned it.
I'm just getting into domain buying. The only one I have at the moment is OneTogethr.com which was a personal venture that flopped due to poor timing & marketing and myself moving on to bigger projects.
It sounds like there are some pretty good ideas in this thread though. It would be a blast to make/manage some projects just for fun within DN—or at least I think it would be!
I'm hoping a mens magazine (or something else) picks it up. Such a simple domain, very brandable. It's great when you see something awesome made from a domain you grabbed.
Oh, it's for sale too. Make me an offer.
Here are mine:
I have jelzo.com, homophonic for password in Hungarian. Not doing much with it right now...
- district.ly (think DC)
- chambered.co has a site on it, but we never did anything with it
- frederick.city (the city i live in)
I have a few, could be persuaded to sell...
Hit me up at email@example.com!
- dilemmo.com (was supposed to be an app for quick voting)
The only one I've got is illuminatedpixels.com. I had an animation blog on there for a while but nothing at the moment.
I have digitalobster.com
All not currently in use.
I am ready to give away the domain along with the website/code/design/database, but not the webserver as I need the server for our other works.
It's for sale. Make me an offer and you can have it. Cheers
Was thinking of using it to build a thing at http://this.motherfucker.rocks but never got around to it...
They are not that clever, but mine are:
i used to own wrongtown.com but never did anything with it.
