the purpose of this website is explained at the end.
A love letter to the Internet of old Cameron's World is a web-collage of text and images excavated from the buried neighborhoods of archived GeoCities pages (1994–2009).
Call me insane, but I find it interesting and refreshing to see something like this. Sure it's chaotic, but it's organized chaos and definitely a good execution on a memoir of Geocities.
I wouldn't be surprised if this style becomes a design trend in the near-future. Obviously polished and (way more) minimal. But...
Every once in a while I see someone do a throwback geocities / early web thing (KesslesKramer did it in 2006 with their folio and that chrome extension) but, Cameron killed the game with this one.
It already is, to a certain extent, and growing. This sort of stuff is the new retro.
Good Guy Cameron pauses music when I switch to any other tab! :D
makes mental note to revisit this website when high
I'm in love with this. It must have taken ages to position all those images.
Definitely used this GIF on one of my GeoCities sites back in the day:
This is not safe for work if you click on some of those links LMAO
I found this very enjoyable.
