Looking for a collection of text-only sites, preferably sites that use as little variation on text weight/styles/size as possible. iA is the best example I have off of the top of my head. Any others?
It uses some variation, but it's the best text only site I have seen in a long time.
That site is basically typographic porn. :)
www.fullstopnewparagraph.co.uk is probably my favourite
Reminds me of this: http://greaterthanorequalto.net/
Brilliantly executed. Was going to suggest this and I'm glad someone beat me to it
This is pure genius!
Posting this for fun, but it's significance cannot be overstated:
I remember finding that. It's so powerful and humanitarian of them to do this.
The download size is the design.
I also did my personal website with pretty much only text www.lucasmoral.es
Great work! I don't mean to go off-topic, but your website could be better if you can change the style of highlighted text. I was trying to click around and figured out they were not clickable.
Thanks for the tip, I'll get into that soon :)
This needs way more contrast, it's really hard to read on my monitor.
looks nice. I get horizontal scrolling in the Reeder in-app browser on your site though..
How has no one dropped this gem yet?
This one is really good https://www.gov.uk/
Or the NZ one that we shamelessly stote: https://www.govt.nz/
elbowsydney.com.au is a pretty good one.
Still the most popular site I've ever made:
Dmitry Fadeyev's site is almost entirely text, and it's beautifully typeset.
I have just one pic. Maybe you're interested: www.giuliomichelon.com
I went text-only for my personal site www.strelioff.com
There are a few images on each page but they are mainly of letterforms.
My personal site is text-only for now :-) http://minnix.me
Jon Tan's (archived) site is not quite "text-only" but worth mentioning: http://v1.jontangerine.com/log/ It's still impressive today, but in 2006/2007 it was pretty mind-blowing and done all in ems which not too many people were doing at the time.
Bonus reading material from his site: Typeface != Font
I'll throw my own site into the mix. Just one weight/size/style, two colors, a grid and a symbol.
This site is probably more in lines of what you are looking for. Few type sizes, modernism, minimalism and up to date with the rest of the web. Almost type only but features an (extremely smart set) picture at the bottom of the first page... https://makingmusic.ableton.com/
My site is pretty much just text, besides a photo of myself and some examples of my work, https://omgmog.net/
Take off the 100% height trick on html/body. It's making the page scroll when it doesn't need to ;)
Ah thank you very much, will do! I guess when you stare at the same thing over and over you don't notice these things.
Try this: http://www.siteinspire.com Most of the websites are type driven
I clicked through all the links and most of them use a sh*tload of variations in size / fonts. A lot of them also featured illustrations and photography. I was hoping to see some other examples like the iA one, but it appears that's hard to find.
I would like to add mine into the mix with just one typeface + size, but only a few words.
This is more what you're looking for I'm sure.
Well it's a little spartan, but my personal website is text-only also ;)
Mine's only text as well: http://wadegarrett.com
I don't know if this fits what you're looking for but mrmrs's blog is pretty barebones (and stunning!): http://xn--h4hg.ws/
Also shameless self plug here: http://mikemai.net/typesettings
ethanbond.com is pretty barebones.
