I agree that readability is an issue, with the clearest case for me being the timeline. Overall though, very nice.

Awesome site. Readability is pretty poor for dense information areas though. The timeline is barely legible at all.
Site hardly weighs anything at only 92kb, but issuing 178 HttpRequests is hurting the performance. Site would perform allot smoother if they switched to sprites.

Great comments about performance. In my experience, for single page sites like this, base64 encoding images directly into the CSS works very well too. While there’s a weight increase (~30%) the drastic reduction in HTTP requests outweighs this. In fact, when I rebuilt http://simpleicons.org recently I found that base64 was even faster than a sprite (since there was one less file to request).
