Help with compressing images in Sketch

almost 5 years ago from , Designer at Incentro

He there fellow designers,

I've been working in Sketch for a while now and it really works for me. But after creating a big project with large images in it, the Sketch file becomes a bit laggy and the filesize is huge.

Is there a plugin/a way to compress large images or maybe even a method like 'rasterize layer' in Photoshop?

    A couple of tips:

    • limit the number of artboards you're using in your document, as this is known to make things slow
    • if possible, you can flatten multiple paths in to one shape -- however this is not reversible, so you will lose the original paths.
    • don't depend on blending modes (union/subtract/etc.) too much as they become hard to maintain with more complex path/shape groupings
    • you can convert a path to a bitmap (which is the same as "Rasterize layer" in PS, using "Layer" > "Flatten Selection to Bitmap" -- but again, this is not reversible, and you'll lose quality if you resize your flattened bitmap.
