Wow. That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.
Kepler-438b is the most earth-like planet discovered, at 470 light-years away. Its inhabitants are listening to our 16th century late renaissance music. :)
(well, if there was radio back then)
Took this from their info:
Although Lightyear.fm has radiowaves reaching over 100 lightyears into space, due to the Inverse Square Law of Propagation, any terrestrial radio broadcast would become nothing but background noise just a few light years away from Earth. So take comfort in knowing that all those awesome constellations up there will never hear Rebecca Black.
Well that's the coolest thing I've seen in a long time... I love how the farther away you get the more creepy and hallowed the music gets.
They did something just like this at the beginning of the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster. Great intro sequence, great film. I love that there's an interactive version of it now!
Edit: a letter
Yes! Reminded me of that too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWwhQB3TKXA
That's what I came here to say. I JUST watched it on Saturday night, so it was fresh on my brain.
Awesome site. Kudos to the guys behind the idea.
Really well done.
Now this is really impressive
