How do you align your Textfields?

over 6 years ago from , Designer & Director at Fugitif

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering how do you guys align your texts when designing interfaces that will be documented for developers later on.

I'm always trying to be strict about the measurements, and don't want to customly play with the spacings since it has to follow a pattern.

But the textfield of the text, and it's actual form's height differs sometimes and even if you align them it does not look it's equally aligned.

I'm wondering what kind of pattern you follow when trying to align your texts, for example on Sketch.

Rather than documenting your typography for the developer, why don't you go one step further and set up the css style relationships yourself, it will save time going back and forth. I made this for you to tweak: http://codepen.io/dropside/pen/8938a1cdb198bcccdaa9c113ebf2b59a?editors=110

Thank you for your thought. It's a nice idea when designing for web. I was wondering more of the mobile side of it. And not just for the developers

For example you want every text to have 10pt of spacing, but aligning numerically does not work for every size of fonts in the long-term. I was just wondering if people break those rounded numbers and set more complex rules . Just a thought. (:
