    I'm continuously impressed with Coke's novel ideas and great executions.

    Just would rather the ideas and executions come from a company with a more helpful product.

    As someone said, the video is for awards and is part of the ad itself, as it will give more online exposure to a campaign that was mostly local (some physical locations) and digital (OMG have you seen that cokes campaign on youtube? so rad!).

    still, and while agreeing that shazaming something on tv is usually is a bad idea (where the hell did I leave my phone??) it's a really great use of digital advertising and technology (websockets, touchscreens, shazam, gyro, microphone, etc).

    These are fun and interactive ways for people to engage with the brand, and hell, if I'm getting free shit, I'm in.

    We already live in a world surrounded by shitty advertising, if we can make it less sucky, why not? unless we find a way of just killing it, I'd be down with that.

      Agreed. You can hate on advertising all day long, but this is really a brilliant integrated use of technology across all advertising mediums. Budgets are nice.

    This is an advertisement for a series of advertisements. Coke's marketing department has officially disappeared up its own butt. Does ANYONE actually scramble for their smart phone when a Shazam logo appears during an ad on TV? Does anyone who watches TV ads use a smartphone? This video broke my WTF meter.

      Yeah, this is a designer news site so advertisements have their place, but this was pure cringe for me. All it did was remind me how bad marketing teams wish consumers used QR codes more

      This is a case study video most likely produced by the ad agency that did the stunts for Coke. These type of videos always embellish a little on what actually happened by framing the creative in its best light. They are mostly used for submitting to award shows and putting into an agency reel.

    I was about to criticise this, asking why anyone would do any of these things with their phone. Then saw that you get a free sample or free bottle and understood. Yes, this does make me sound like a cheapskate that wants to get stuff for free. However it makes sense to reward people like this for simply taking an interest in their product.

    Ironically the worst thing about the idea is that this video exists. I'd rather have only found out via word of mouth, or some random person recording it online.
