I just finished reading it. It's a really nice introduction to programming / CoffeeScript / Framer, targeted at total novices.

If you have experience in JavaScript or CoffeeScript, it's probably better to jump straight into http://framerjs.com/learn/ but if you're a designer with no coding experience and have been looking at those cool Framer demos thinking "I'd like to do that", it's definitely worth your money : )

I use https://www.meteor.com/ for prototyping and as a designer have found it super easy to get up and running and develop stuff quickly.

I can totally recommend https://www.discovermeteor.com/ to get you started :) It's an excellent resource and I go back to it every time I start working on something new.

Commonly used packages are 1 line away from being installed as well... https://atmospherejs.com/

The thing I like about meteor is the thing you end up building in the end is in its own right a REAL product, but without all the development overhead. Haven't found anything faster for me anyway. I too was a designer with no coding experience when i started this and I've learned so much.

Tools like framer/invision/origami just don't go far enough for me and feel frustrating and like they are holding me back, plus I don't feel like i'm really learning much as a designer about the other side of everything I design, development.

That's hardly a good comparison. Prototyping for transitions vs. building small apps in a fast way?

nothing stopping you from doing transition prototyping in meteor :/ its literally 1 line to create an app, then another one to deploy it, so if you say, even just placed images on a page and animated them using css or even some other library (added with one more line) from atmosphere ... i don't see why its slower?

once you start adding coffescript to framer in my opinion you're already going down a very different path
