How do they find these? Most of the products look like they came from some kind of parody show.

LOL. Some certainly look like parodies. For example the Smarter Socks but apparently they are real…

I dunno, I can see the app being very useful for measuring the black level in a sock. How else would you know if they're actually black and not just very very very very dark blue? And can you imagine the embarrassment if you put a sock on the wrong foot? With this app each sock has a unique ID and left/right label.

I can imagine it'd be even more useful with an Apple Watch app that could somehow show you the summary of the sock as you picked it up so you could avoid any mistakes. I'm sure they're working on it though.

Hope they realise an update in the future to support different colours of socks.

Or dark black and slightly darker black?

This shouldn't be a thing on this site. We're designers. We can spot the RGB values of things from a hundred and twelve yards.

You know that is a good point! It will save you endless hours of discussion and trying to figure out whether the socks go with your dark grey or was it somewhat blue suit. :-)

And gamification of picking up socks will certainly be a killer app.

The socks were my favourite. Followed closely by the eggs.

They talk like it's real on the site but there doesn't look to be a way to actually order the connected socks or their little RFID reader device. My (current) bet is on it being an elaborately-produced hoax.

Well, I can actually add them to the shopping cart and the app is in iTunes.

Perhaps somebody forgot to tell the product manager that this was supposed to be a hoax :-)

Touché! I missed that it actually shows up as Socks+ (or whatever it's called :) when you add it to the cart.

The vid is such a spot-on parody, though. This whole thing is so weird!
