I think it is awesome! http://cl.ly/image/3B022T2P1R12
That retina screenshot.
When they get rid of ubiquitous overlay ads and incessant pre-roll BS, then I'll get really excited.
I'm an advocate for uBlock, which claims to use less memory than ABP.
Thanks for the link, it seems really great :) BTW folks, never use ABP. For me, it seems to bring much more nasty ads than those it blocks. I think of it more as a virus than an ad blocker.
Nothing wrong with ABP, and it certainly doesn't bring any ads, but it's slow. Haven't benchmarked personally but it feels like you wouldn't gain much whilst using it in terms of performance.
I don't care about ads per se, I only hate auto-playing videos with audio and ads that load from slow servers.
If you don't want to use uBlock then YouTube are releasing a subscription where you can pay to remove all the ads.
If you're interested in checking it out you can follow these directions to change your cookie data and use it.
I really enjoy it. Love seeing the transparency effect on videos. Works well on light and dark areas too.
Here's the video tutorial for that:
That player looks nice but damn that new so called 'feature' of auto playing the next video sure is unnerving.
unnerving how? I kinda like it because I sometimes listen to music in youtube and therefore serves as a kind of radio/playlist
but is not necessary in the most cases
If you want to do the exact same thing + queue other tracks when needed, I can only advise to use MisterJack :)
In that particular case it's useful. But I don't use YouTube for music (I have Spotify & iTunes Match for that) and when I watch The Verge or Mt. Mograph or something like that, it just doesn't make sense.
Much cleaner than before, definitely a step in the right direction.
Google have been updated youtube player? I've try here but have no sucess :/
Is it on hover only?
Man, I really don't want player ui persistent on top of my videos.
Edit: It does fade-out on mouse-out
I really miss having the red timeline progress sticking to the bottom as it were in the old version. hopefully they bring this feature back.
So much better, much more modern. I was wondering how long it would take them to update it.
Look that play animation: https://vid.me/WeOt. It's doesn't look like the material design play ~pause ~ stop anim.
If you want to try the new player, just type following into your address bar in Chrome or whatever (no extensions needed):
(Make sure to copy/retype the entire line.)
The new player looks a little more “new”. It’s less readable, less usable (no progress bar). It works fine with YouTube Center,
The HTML5 player even uses Adobe Flash so we can finally right click and copy the URL. :)
I love these transparent video players.
Reminds me of the Clappr project
All for it!
