Is there a way to filter out fastco articles?
Alt: "Why the Golden Ratio Needs To Die"
Poorly written article.
FastCo is kind of like a design tabloid right?
About time someone debunked this numerologist, antimathematical crap.
Hey look! FastCo changed their linkbait title formula a bit!
I don't know if I can put much weight in someone who says things like "arbitrary things like aesthetics". I just cannot agree that aesthetics are arbitrary in any way.
You telling me this isn't art?
"6 golden ratio conspiracy theories that might actually be true"
Outside of the obvious FastCo clickbait hatred of everything design based ever, I agree.
The golden ratio has popped up like twice in the past 4 years of my current role. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's just not that relevant.
The Golden Ratio is useful in painting more than digital design. It's useful in the first steps of the compositions to control the viewer's eye.
For Web and app design you'll have better results if you follow the F and Z principles.
The golden ratio is just a particular ratio. Ratios and scales are useful in design to tie things together, and to help you scale up and down, amongst other things. The relevance of a ratio will vary depend on the particular requirements and context of a project. Use a ratio that is relevant to your project. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Going to study mathematical design thinking in today's design. Anyone have any good links out there that isn't Fastco?
Lol this took me way back to 2010 http://mashable.com/2010/09/29/new-twitter-golden-ratio/
