I think there are some good points in here, but I have to say the opening caught me off guard
If there’s one thing that scares us even more than the prospect of Indians learning to design and offering it at a cheap price...
Do you really want to say that Indians are currently unable to design things?
Hey Evan :) Thanks for the comment. I actually ment this in the cliche way that all the jobs are being moved to India (regardless of the Indian skills, because of the cheap labor), but I see how it can be offensive to Indians so it's been edited. cheers!
"I download movies illegally or use Popcorn Time, because I just don’t value the work being done by thousands of creatives in Hollywood." (Sarcastic in context)
Examples like these don't help your point, they work against it. Because yes, if you engage in this kind of behavior you are degrading the work being done by artists in those fields.
Your main point is quite good, and I agree with it. But I suggest you make some edits to your article, as it is quite distracting at the moment.
Thanks Ted, point taken, even though I don't feel exactly like you on the subject.
I totally agree with this. I was actually distracted by this comment in the blog post and it distracted me from the main point.
With that said I love this article and have shared it!
Thanks Jonathan :) appreciated .
I used to find myself being mad before by these kind of things. Then I just passed it off as people who wouldn't of paid me that much anyways. After reading about stock photography and cheap icons, I feel I'm in the same boat. While I understand the value of real photography and professional icons, my budget doesn't. Now I don't think I'll ever feel angry about cheap design again. Great feeling!
