Hey Rob.
I don't know if you're the author of the article (I'm assuming you are because of the possessive in the DN title), but it's pretty great.
I'm a huge user of your site--I look to it for inspiration for almost every website I build, one page or not, and I am constantly linking to it in my Advanced Web Design course for other students to get inspiration for their sites from. Just wanted to say thanks for having such a great site.
With regards to the article: something I noticed is that almost every single one of these has some form of illustration. Do you have any thoughts regarding this?
Thanks, &!
Thanks for such kind words!
Yeah, I thought I'd try a more personal approach with a different title opposed to the normal "Top 20 One Page Websites from 2014". It is true about reviewing 725 though:)
Regarding the illustrations - hmmm, I've honestly never pieced that together out this Top 20 list but a custom illustration really adds personality to a website. An illustration also helps mix up the traditional flow of title > subtitle > content... especially if the illustration is big and content is wrapped around it. We have a tag for Illustrations: https://onepagelove.com/tag/illustrations but another great references is Characters to add more personality: https://onepagelove.com/tag/characters
