Now I need a decent font manager that has live previews. Any recommendations?
For the terminally inclined, check out Homebrew Fonts. I'm pretty sure all the Google fonts are there, and it couldn't be easier— especially if you're already using Homebrew.
Can someone tell me how much storage this requires?
According to https://code.google.com/p/googlefontdirectory/ - its about 2.5gb
Seems like it the Github repo hasn't been updated in a couple of years - anyone have an up to date version?
I use SkyFonts. Works much better for me.
Just make a fork that uses a new pull of fonts, seems to work like a charm, but please let me know if it doesn't for you. My repo is here: https://github.com/boetter/Web-Font-Load
Just run this in terminal instead:
curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/boetter/Web-Font-Load/master/install.sh | sh
I've used SkyFonts for a while and won't recommend it, any 3rd party app that you can get rid off running on your machine 24-7, I'd recommend you get rid off :-)
Sweet! Thanks's for this Jacob.
We've merged in your changes :)
