This is nice UI, but arbitrary password requirements are annoying and do little to enhance security. It's lipstick on a pig.

Haha wow, I just handed along a redesign of our new password form last week, that does almost exactly this.
Do agree with everyone else though – all this stuff is pretty ridiculous. We’re not in a position to overhaul the whole system right now, though.
This kind of reactive checklist at least makes it clear what you’re missing, so you aren’t having to hit ‘Save’ a hundred times – which makes an already annoying process even more annoying.
What frustrates me most – as a 1password user who autogenerates maximum strength passwords for everything – is setting a maximum on character counts. If that was in our system, I’d be arguing it out regardless of dev time.
And this sort of stuff pisses me off with their crazy requirements for something so trivial (not targetting MailChimp).
