Yeah I'd say the 1927-1928 was only the 1927-1928 logo for a good reason.
Their logo from 1964 - 1993 (almost 30 years!) looks like a Richard Scarry character.
This is my favorite sports logo of all time (followed closely by the old Bluejays logo). I love that startled tiger! But, I hate most contemporary logos. They all feel like people who are trying way too hard to be cool, or "badass".
God that logo looks so good though.
Here's Harry Heilmann wearing a uniform with the 1927 / 28 logo: http://www.quora.com/Was-this-logo-actually-ever-used-by-the-Detroit-Tigers
They're all perfect.
*Nods *Fist to sky
I've got to assume most of these are lazy live-trace or paintbucket conversion jobs, which is unfortunate, because I doubt the originals are quite so heinous/hilarious. Some are still pretty bad, to be sure, but they're just too rough to believe it.
That said, I think 1957–1960 is actually way dope. I'd be scared shitless if I saw that maniacal feline barreling toward me.
was good. is good. stays good. Barca. http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/list_by_team/4016/_FC_Barcelona/
The first one is amazing. Perfection.
There's a few punk looking ones that I giggled at. Hardcore in non-Hardcore places, love it.
My favorite/least favorite time period of sports logos was the 50s/60s when a lot of team's logos were just really dopey looking cartoon characters.
I'm quite partial to the one they had through the 80s, but I second the bad live-trace comment.
I am literally peeing in my pants at this. To think if the great Ty Cobb being a piece of shit wearing this logo is the best.
I laughed so much more than I should have.
