I honestly think I don't understand the point of this blog (?), but I can certainly say that my life as a designer doesn't feel like a fairytale and I don't think it should, either.
No point, just fun.
I feel this blog could and should have more pictures of me.
this seems well-intentioned, but comes across as incredibly pretentious.
Oh by all means it is. Incredibly pretentious.
You forgot to mention the part about tight deadlines, bad clients, and hovering art directors.
I'm done with the agency-world, wouldn't know a thing about that. Pete occasionally hovers, but he's not that tall.
Sounds like Podio knows how to do things right ;)
"yeah.. just ship it whenever..."
Haha, this is sooo turning out the wrong way. Good thing it's Friday.
Hah, this comment should be the TL;DR for this post's entire comment thread.
Edit: DN really is, in general, a lot better than what you're receiving in response to this post. I Hope, even after your experience with this post, you decide stick around and decide contribute more down the road.
Thanks for posting.
I didn't immediately enjoy this, therefore I'll leave a snarky comment to show OP how bad he should feel. We don't need stuff I don't like in DN.
Not sure what's causing all the hate here.. I dig the post. If you're a designer and you dwell on the agony of deadlines instead of the adventure of creating, then you might be doing it wrong. I'm not saying that a day at the office is a cakewalk, but I think this post gives us a window into workplace where there is a great balance between difficult projects and good personalities. Design life shouldn't be hell, you just need to design the UX of life a little better ;)
Also, that's some tight interior design. Props.
Getting out of school...starting a career as a designer soon. If this is what lies ahead, then I'm out.
I really enjoyed this post! Hope to meet some of you at forge in the new year :)
We don't have fancy furniture but we do get a lot of fun and work done at the studio, that's why I wouldn't change my profession and/or job. Every day brings something new. Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
@Rasmus, this looks super fun and am sure it was great fun putting it together too.
Haters gonna hate, makers gonna make. Keep spreading the cheer around man!
Come for the story, stay for the comments.
Always a pleasure, DN.
Go hover dude
I like this site, thanks for sharing! (Several of the images are broken for me, though.)
If the title is "This is what work feels like," shouldn't the emphasis be on the work, not on the stuff between work?
It's quite clear I'm missing the mark here. But yeah, probably should. From now on I'll just keep it to myself I think :)
I must be doing it wrong...
Can you tell me the name / maker of the chair on the right in this photo:
Designs do work?
Not sure why there is so much hostility in a pretty harmless thread. Always fun to see the people behind the designs. Thanks for sharing!
