Without just saying 'good'.

Also, if there was one client you could work for, who would it be? Not exclusively.

A perfect client is someone who knows what they want and comes prepared to the table. Willing to accept feedback, and respects your input.

Someone who has done their own research and is a "Decision Maker." By this I mean a client who knows what they want from the start and seek you, their contractor, as an end result of their own making. Along the way your job is to help bring their idea to life as well as offer your own skills to better the idea even more. = perfect.

Also I prefer a good communicator, understands the concept of value in design, not super cheap and willingness to accept change.

Includes me in the team Wants to build a great product and Flexible are PARAMOUNT!

I'd take a late payment (a time or two) if those three things are in place. Wanting to build a great product might mean understanding you might not necessarily have the highest degree of understanding when it comes to that, and being willing to defer to your designers knowledge is something a great deal of freelance clients don't do.

I think that if the client really wants to build a great product, he understands that the relations between the people in the team are key. Part of that relation is respecting the things you agree to.

If a client pays a week late, is it okay for me to deliver designs a week late? Is it okay to show up a week late for meetings? Of course not. There should be no double standards when it comes to payments.

Someone that values design and doesn't treat it as a commodity. Or better still, someone who sees a designer as a skilled worker, not a human screwdriver.
