Why does Web Design, Branding and Illustration not change to a pointer cursor on hover?

Web Design is selected by default, yet all items are showing. This really confused me.

Thanks for noticing. You're totally right, and I've changed it to have nothing selected by default. Looking at it again, I should have a more clear UI for the filtering.

A fresh pair of eyes is a great thing to have!

        Happy to help.

Something further: I feel your site is a bit content-light. The only real content is your portfolio images, which is great, but you could have more information about yourself. Basically, you should tell potential clients why they should hire you. Yes, you use HTML, CSS, SASS, etc., but why should they hire you to use those tools for them? Why should they pick you to design their logo for them over someone else who is cheaper or a service like Fivrr? Or why would they choose you to design for them instead of using a competitor or a template?

Also, could you capitalize the s in Javascript? JavaScript is the proper name of it.

I like it. I always wonder why people focus so much on having their social sites featured so highly on a personal website. Surely the majority of the data on their is on your site already?

Force of habit, I guess, but it's all spread pretty evenly. Not very productive if I want people to stay on my site, though :)

However sometimes I'll end up posting things on Behance before I write them into my site.

Not bad, some good thoughts by others so far on the UI.

I'd also agree that you seem to be focusing more on your social networks than your own sites navigation when you show the external links to Behance and LinkedIn directly, but hide your sites Menu behind a click.

I also am not sure what the large photograph is telling me about your design. At first I expected you to also be a photographer when the entire screen was filled with an image that doesn't seem to be directly related to your Design & Development. It may have some significance to you, but maybe somehow explaining that would help
