DN T-Shirt

over 6 years ago from , Intent Renderer

Hey DN,

There’s been a long standing request for a Designer News t-shirt. We’re happy to announce that we’ve teamed up with the folks over at Teespring to make that a reality.

For our first run we decided to go with a classic look. We’ve designed a special pixelized version of the DN logo that will be screen printed on high quality American Apparel crew shirts.

Since this is a special occurrence we’ve decided to throw in a limited edition color for your DN Profile.

I would say 25$ for a t-shirt with just an icon + some company advertising in the back it's pretty expensive...

I would only pay those 25$ if it comes without the advertisement and with some "Designer News" or "DN" or something like that text...

I have to agree with this. Is this a LV shirt or a DN one? It looks a lot more like a LV one simply because of the branding. Now, this is where it gets a little wonky... because all my tees from startups and applications were all given to me for free.

I'd be all about paying for a shirt to show support for the DN community (and to help pay for the expense of running and managing this site), but I feel it should be all about DN. Just my take anyways.

Also, in regards to another comment on here, was someone really banned for commenting about the shirt?

It's like those "hardcore" road bike enthusiasts that buy 100's of dollars worth of riding gear that turns them into a riding billboard for company's. I never understood this, especially since the professional athletes riding for these company's actually get paid to wear this overpriced gear.

Same as "hardcore" sportsball enthusiasts wearing 100's of dollars worth of sportsball gear etc etc.

Agree, just keep this shirt about the community here. I bet most of us do not even use Layervault... yet. Maybe later, but the real value right now is the community they are building.

Love the front, but I'm not ordering because of the back.

The solution is simple: Design News should run a contest for t-shirt design.

You designed a "DN" t-shirt using a low contrast icon. Yet the words "Designer News" of what it represents is nowhere to be found. Makes no sense to me.

A large part of T-Shirt design is in-jokes (which don't have to be funny, that's just the name I've heard it be called). Most people on DN know that icon has represented DN, and would recognize it if they saw it. That's the in-joke.

Wow $25/shirt.. you guys must be making a killing!

    Doesn't Teespring take only $8/shirt?

EDIT: http://prntscr.com/4wsgu1 Ok it's $9.81 for dual side. not a bad profit.

There is a big difference in the fabric. I would much rather pay $25 for a good t-shirt, than $8 for some junk I won't wear.

Also, I don't care that the LayerVault logo is on the back. I actually welcome it. Would you be pissed off if Google put their logo on the back of a Chrome shirt, or if Apple put their logo on the back of an iOS shirt? I don't think most people would.

Why offer a mass-produced tshirt, when instead ( for just $20 ) you can offer a customizable one?

Your followers are creative.. after all ;-)

The options for self-expression is endless.

I would love to buy one, but the shipping to Denmark is almost the same price as the t-shirt itself.

    Pre-ordered!

The limited edition profile color sold me, and I feel a little bit dirty because of it.

Why is this still at the top of the homepage?

You should invent some ad space and call it a day.

Bought, my Paypal isn't the same as my DN email though ( x+prefixes@gmail.com. ) Seems like a nice way to give back.
