My problem with Medium

over 5 years ago from , Developer & Designer

Medium is place that I could share my articles. OK. But there is a boil.

Medium using "JAF Bernina Sans" font. Which has a Turkish language support. But unfortunately Medium doesn't support Turkish language.

It is a shitty excuse, but full character support can significantly increase filesize, up to 10x depending on the font.

Twitter stopped using Gotham because they had issues with character support/filesize, and it is also the reason why Wikipedia uses Georgia + Helvetica/Arial.

There has to be a way forward. Could there be a way to only load localized characters based on the users location or system preference?

So, Medium just thinking people who know and speak English and don't mind your main language what is. I'm Turkish too and want to read in my main language on Medium. Sometimes can be tough to read and understand English for me the article's subject well.

Yes, this is a problem but you can contact Medium for support though, kardesim. :)
