- Animated GIFs!
- Fancy transitions
- Markdown support
- iPhone 6, 6+, and iPad support
Finally an iPad app! I've been waiting a while for that
This app is awesome. Just bought all the themes. I'm rocking SPF-45 and Helvetica Neue.
Comment threading? Dark mode? Markdown support? iPad layout? GIFs? Get on all my devices already.
This is great! Got a chance to play with the demo on Arthur's phone at the SF meetup. Glad it's finally out.
Incredible job on this app based on my 3 min. of experience with it so far. I am thoroughly enjoying using it above any DN client I've tried so far (especially on the iPad. Thank you for the 2 column layout). I am excited to find out, through consistent use, if this will be the DN client that will replace the safari bookmark for me.
Kudos, Arthur and Matt.
Edit: Specific styling for visited links would be very helpful.
Thanks Daniel, glad you're enjoying it!
We're working on a fix for those gray link colors for the next release. Thanks for the feedback!
This is nice! Good work, Matt and Arthur.
This pretty much rules. Very nice to use!
Looks really really cool
Wow this is so nice. Awesome job!
I'm quite sad that there are more well designed Designer News apps than Hacker News apps. I'm using and loving MobileDN, just wish there was a HN equivalent.
Have you tried MiniHack? It's pretty awesome.
I just bought it. Comments it's a great user acquisition tool for the small growth hacker.
Installed it; just what I was looking for. I was slightly skeptical of the free version, but it turned out the paid version just contained features for people who have a HN account, which I didn't need.
You could also look at TheNews app (http://bit.ly/thenews-ios). It has Product Hunt, Designer News & Hacker News all in one.
*Disclaimer, I built it.
This is sweet
Just incredible you guys. So wonderfully done. Wish we saw more typecentric apps like this in the store.
Really slick! Commenting from the app right now ;)
Superb job. This a very well designed and beautiful DN client. The iPad support really makes my day! Thank you for this.
Some feedback after using the app for a bit today:
- Comment textarea doesn't have any spellcheck or typing corrections
- The round avatars seemed cool at first, but they seem to cut off a lot of the avatars.
My only too gripes as well. Otherwise, great work!!
Whoops my bad! We'll enable autocorrect for the next release. Thanks for the great feedback!
spelchek seems to werk now
Interaction sounds are very good :)
Congratulations on a great design as read in the comments. Is there an android version coming soon or does anyone have any recommendations for a DN android app?
Thanks! Sorry, an Android version isn't on our roadmap, but it looks like there are a few Android clients listed here: https://news.layervault.com/things
Loving the different themes! Rockin the SPF 45.
This is awesome! Great job guys.
Love it! The subtle animations are brilliant.
Okay, the app seems good. Dont really like the font weight of the titles. Too heavy.
I think theyre actually part of the magic! Such great visual hierarchy.
I tend to agree about the font weight, would love to see some customisation options for weight and size of the titles
I'm intrigued as to why/ how the name 'Paper' was decided upon? Especially considering there's already 'Paper by 53' and the more recent 'Facebook Paper' out there. Why not try to stand apart with a little more creative name? Just playing devil's advocate here, but I think it's a valid topic.
My guess would be it was a convenient play on words e.g. 'designer newspaper'. Also, since the app is clearly focused on DN and nothing else, I don't think using such a generic name matters much.
Lol I began doing that last monday. It really fucks apps that have night mode implemented. Like Redd or GoodTask.
It's pretty funny would be cool if it took screencaps with inverted colors.
I really like the app! My only feedback is to improve the experience when viewing sites. Closing the page with the X in the upper, right-hand corner with one hand is a bit of a pain when using your left hand. It seems minor compared to how awesome the app is.
Awesome! FYI- i cannot change themes or fonts on my iphone 6 plus.
