Interesting. Now I'm more curious to know Capital One's plans. Just two months ago Dan Makoski left Google to join Capital One too:
This has to be about beacons, ble, nfc, etc. Isn't something getting standardized/legislated soon?
Significant, but the I don't think this type of design acquisition will become a little more common pretty soon
Almost every attempt to log in to my Capital One accounts has been a tear inducing process, so the optimist in me wants to believe Adaptive Path will make this leaps and bounds better.
Despite it being unexpected, I'm really optimistic about this news.
A bank that values service design/design thinking so much that it purchased the pioneers of user experience.
That's gotta be good news.
I choose to believe that the folks at Adaptive Path would only make the transition if they knew they weren't going to be building out dark patterns for banking systems.
Considering these are the guys that run UX Week and a ton of other awesome service design events, this is a pretty unexpected and strange move.
Good luck to the team. I hope they succeed on delivering a high-class experience to their new customer base.
