I'm not a fan. That grid is a disorganized mess.

Nice, but they should have called the heatmaps eatmaps :)

It feels, too cluttered and busy for me? I'm not sure if I'm putting my feelings into the correct words at this point, and honestly can't say I know too much about design. While I like the look of it, it feels weird to use.

Really nice site. Really liking the feel... but does anyone else think they should have implemented a sticky header for their menu bar, on scroll?

SO much better than the old one, it needs a few more tweaks to get all the crap in the grid paired down though.

I don't know what I should be looking at! The hierarchy is all over the place.

Indeed, both Eater and Polygon are owned by Vox Media — Eater was a more recent acquisition, and has now received its first major Vox led redesign.

Polygon's layout and grid usage feels less scattered, however. Perhaps it's the line dividers. Or the spacing between sections. Or the visual queues such as angles & "folds" that visually associate groups of content.

It's the header of polygon and the theme of verge (all three are vox) which is just a bit of a mess without the structure verge has with the gradient foregrounds to the article images.

This is really confusing, didn't view for too long. Wasn't really sure where to focus my eyes were all over the place.
