Ask DN: CSS Layout

6 years ago from , UI/UX Designer

Curious how everybody is implementing responsive CSS layout these days?

I’ve explored Flexbox, but it doesn’t seem quite ready.

I’ve used a simple WTF Grid for a while. I wrote off Bootstrap early on, but have recently given v3 a second chance, and have been very impressed with its grid.

Still, the hacks needed to do things with centering and vertical alignment drive me a little bonkers.

Anyways, I’d love to hear how you all are handling grids, layout and things like vertical alignment.

This is such a broad questions. Completely depends on the needs of the project. Non-complex layouts are easy to implement with just about any responsive grid available. I tend to use a few scss mixins to output grids that suit my needs for various sizes.

Applications are a bit more complex, like dealing with fixed components. Zurb's new approach to foundation looks interesting in respect to this.
