Hey everyone,
Please post the entries for your DN Redesign here. A link to your shiny new LayerVault public site should be all that is necessary. Read more about the Solicited Redesign Contest.

Very, very nice. Captures the spirit of DN very well. Only thing I would suggest is putting the person speaking (top-left, current design) in there to show the branding of the site.
I like this one a lot! One thing that I find distracting about current design is round auto-detected icons for posts. Some subtle indication for discussion posts might be nice, but graphical element demands a lot of attention. This redesign manages attention very well!
Exactly. The indicators should give context to the post, but should not be so prominent that they look like they're somehow 'more important' posts than those that don't have them.
Why does there need to be a redesign? I love the current one
Just to be fun and to give direction to the contest.
Just think about iOS 6.
Had some spare time and thought I would give this a try. Had fun at figuring out what could be improved to make DN even better.

Hey everyone Here is my redesign for DN. I'm not a serious contestant, when i started to work on this project it was a spare time activity. And just decided to show here.
By the way, i tried to make a LayerVault public site, really painful for me. I'm sorry.

Still figuring out LayerVault public sites, but here's mine.
I decided to play with a left-content, right-nav idea. See you in SF!
Going for lots of whitespace, eliminating the sidebar, keeping the blue in the header (it's how I know I'm on DN), and revamping the profile page. This was fun!
(For some reason I couldn't get the LayerVault public site to work, so threw the images up at a personal url.)

I'm not a member at layervault as I can't really afford the monthly fee so I just uploaded mine to imgur. I added a little colour and contrast to the existing design because I don't think it needs a drastic overhaul.

Thanks for your entry! You don't need a LayerVault account but just wanted to let you know it's free to sign up and host a public project.
As Kelly mentioned above: any organizations without payment information just become free accounts after 30 days.
what date do they need to be submitted by?

edit: That's midnight of the 14th folks.
If one of my university professors had put a deadline like that on a project, 75% of the class would have misunderstood it and turned in our project late.
