ASK DN: What camera are you using?

over 7 years ago from , Product designer @ WeArePoint.com

Have been using my iphone to take all my photos and want to dive into something a little more serious. Thought DN might be a good place to get some advice...?

I use an iPhone 5s as my main camera, I wish I had picked up the ollo telephoto lens last time I was at an Apple store. I have used lots of DSLR's and I currently own some pretty serious professional camera gear (film/video) and I still usually just use my iPhone. Most of that reason is because I enjoy not having to carry around big heavy cameras and gear.

Truly, the best camera is the one you have in your pocket, and I grew tired of cargo pants.

for cameras that are a step up, the new Fuji line of X camera's are pretty nice, X20/X30 etc and i'd consider that to give me something a bit more dedicated.

I'm using an entry-level DSLR (Nikon D3100) which seems to be pretty good for beginners. I have yet to find some time to play around with more extensively in order to do most of my shots on manual though.

I guess it depends on how comfortable/experienced you are with photography to begin with.
