Hi Folks,
Many have asked for more meetups around the globe, and September is going to be the start of that. We crunched the numbers and figured out the 9 most popular cities for Designer News in North America. We'd like to encourage more people to host their own as well, which is why we've put together a calendar page.
We're still solidifying the last few venues. If you have ideas or suggestions for a good place in your town, please let us know.
See you there!
How are you guys doing with finding a venue in Toronto? I'd be happy to look into seeing if 500px could host it.
Drop me an email and let's go from there: kelly@layervault.com
Thanks!

What about Wurst?
ur the wurst, old man :P
Engineer at LayerVault?!
Congratulations sir, and a huge win for LayerVault!
Hi Kelly, you mentioned people hosting their own. How do I go about doing that?
Drop me a line: kelly@layervault.com
I've been thinking about organizing an Austin meetup for a while now. Who's down?
:( sadface for DC
I'd be into helping out if someone has space to self-host a DC Meetup :)
Feel free to organize a DC one. Let me know the time/date and I'll add it to the big board. Who knows? I might take the train down and attend myself.
Chicago! yes! Can't wait.
:( We should do a meetup in Europe / the Netherlands
Community members are more than welcome to organize them. If you'd like to organize one, get in touch!
I defenitly will, who can I contact?
Drop me an email: kelly@layervault.com
Hooray Toronto! Thanks for doing this!
No Europe and obviously no Italy: I feel like a third world country sometimes.
One day :)
It looks like I need to come back to Silicon Valley if I want to meet you again haha
Washington DC!
We would love to host the NYC meetup at our event space in Brooklyn! If that's of interest to you, you can reach me at micah@livestream.com
I wish there were more designers from the Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines "metro" area to make an event possible.
Anyone from Silicon Prairie?
Yay, Portland! You can count on me being there. :)
I'd definitely attend one in Atlanta (or Dallas or Austin since I'll be there in September).
I would love to attend one in Atlanta. If anyone wants to work to have one set up I would be interested.
Atlanta is a bit of a drive, but it's the closest to Charleston for me. I would probably try and make it.
Would love to see one in Philadelphia! I know a few venues that will likely be willing to host a meetup. :D
I'll come to a new york one.
WOO Seattle! Super pumped to HIRL with some creative folks.
Hey, is there a way to RSVP outside of Facebook?
There is not. We realize not everyone Facebooks these days. Just put it on your calendar and show up!
I can help with the Los Angeles meetup (venue, organizations).
Down for NYC
FUCK YEAH SEATTLE!
Google in Fremont always lets people use their space for events!
Will there be meetup.com pages for these events?
We've tried Meetup.com pages, but they didn't work out so well. We've had the most success with Facebook pages, even though not everyone uses Facebook.
So, how do we sign up for the meetups? Or is it just first come first served?
They are pretty casual and held at bars with plenty of capacity. It shouldn't be a problem!
Let's do one somewhere in the Silicon Valley as well (Google, Yahoo, Intuit, all those companies are here.)
Possibly Palo Alto, Mountain View, Cupertino, San Jose, Santa Clara?
If you still need a venue for Chicago I can see if GrubHub will host. Regardless, I can't wait!
Awesome. Would love to help out with the Boston event if you need any!
Vancity!
Very cool. I’ll certainly be in attendance @ Los Angeles meetup.
We need one in Montreal!
