Nothing says serious business more than a photo of strangers drawing nothing at all to do with your idea on a whiteboard.
Or an empty notebook.
Is this picture kinda (really) scary, or is it just me?
Not really. They are just reading you latest change-log where you added badges to your app.
"We made it to number 4 on designer news!"
It's the same picture over and over again.
bro, do u even mac?
Ah, yes. The essentials of any business. Phones, macs, white-boards, drawing pads and close-ups of all of these things in offices, coffee shops and probably Brooklyn.
Drinking fancy coffee's and doing a whole buncha nothing. Yep, that's pretty accurate.
I really like this one for stock photos that don't suck: http://unsplash.com
and it's not just creepy kids or only mac products and moleskines with grids.
Well, it really looks like a ripoff of Unsplash, or at least they must have been strongly inspired by it:
I think there's been a lot of 'strongly inspired' stock photo sites since we started Unsplash. It's awesome though.
Every week there seems to be a new 'x photos every x days' that pops up, and they're all putting out some really good photos. Seeing what people use them for is really cool — especially with the hero-image blog post phase we're going through right now (thanks to Medium).
For irony, if you go all the way back, I think the first 20 or so images that Unsplash ever released were near identical to these: Moleskine, latte, MBP, reclaimed wood desk/table, rinse, repeat.
Still better than iStock
anybody remember the other stock blogs mentioned on DN?
Snapwi.re is a really great place to get professional stock photos for very cheap. Awesome business model. I had some experience with testing their site early on and I have to say, it is one of the best stock photo purchasing sites I have ever encountered.
These things are taking over. Sure you CAN take a lot of photos of your mac and iPhone and put them on the web, but SHOULD you really?
Don't forget the mandatory VSCO preset treatment that makes the picture really useful for retouching...not. wipes glasses ah shucks the haze is still there.
I wonder if these come with signed model release forms...
