    It's kinda sad how with every rebrand or redesign, it's pretty much a requirement now to have a post or video explaining why you did what to appease the throngs of forum posters who feel they could have done a better job.

    Anyways, I really like how Sam didn't get bogged down into why they "did this" or "did that" and focused on the 10,000 foot view of how it happened. It was a nice, quick read.

      I love posts like these. So many companies are protective about their processes and perfectionism to the point they don't want to show early concepts because of how bad they might be. I love it when a company like Foursquare chronologically takes you through the process and shows you early concepts so you can see how far it has come.

      I think more companies should do write-ups like this. As a developer wanting to understand design a little more, these posts are educational and eye-opening.

    Good writeup. I wish we could see writeup's like these covering the service design work and also more in-depth about researching JTBD and how they scoped the feature set. That would be really interesting.

    this is interesting. does anyone know of other explainers like this? I think I saw one for the AirBnB rebrand a few weeks back.
