I really like it as well, but you might want to avoir the light version it's unreadable on some OS/Browser combinations (Yes Chrome Windows I'm lookings at you)

I find Roboto to be nice and readable.

After playing around with many combinations and font weights I must say I'd stay with Roboto (for desktop and mobile at least)

Source Sans Pro is nice and doesn't seem to be used quite as much as Open Sans:

On Mac, you can make more readable by using:

I like: Muli, Source Sans Pro, Montserrat, and Varela.

Google Fonts is the IKEA of typography. Looks good on the surface, falls apart pretty quickly, and everyone goes to it.

The analogy was good until you said it falls apart? How do you mean? The serif start dropping off of letters?
No, they just become unreadable at weird sizes, have legibility issues, don't scale well, have kerning issues, aren't hinted properly, have weird anti-aliasing issues, no ligatures etc...
