Hello everyone! I've recently come onto the Mac platform and it's pretty good. The one app I am missing from the world of Windows is mp3tag. Is there a worthy app on Mac that does the same thing?
MusicBrainz' Picard is fantastic. It comes with their fingerprinting system integrated, which is great. The UI isn't much for the eye, but on the whole, the app holds the rare combination of being powerful and simple to use.
Agreed, Picard is my app of choice as well! It really could do with a face lift, but it's a powerful tool.
It changed my life. Seriously.
I use Tagger
Not the most feature-rich, but very simple and efficient. I wrote an applescript that keeps my tags up to date.
I'm curious how many people on DN still maintain (pirated?) mp3 collections?
+1 on this one. I have a massive library stored on my NAS and i can't find a way to maintain it properly. I used to do it manually, but i would love to find a way to organize my collection.
I've tried this one, but it wasn't 100% to my liking.
I do have a long-time running MP3 collection on my portable hard-drive. I manage it on iTunes AND sync it to Google Play Music. And yesterday I subscribed to All-Access and it's unsettling me.
You don't have to miss MP3Tag! Nothing compares. Seriously, I've searched.
Grab yourself a Mac port of it here: http://vortexbox.org/forum/vortexbox/general/3341-announce-os-x-version-of-mp3tag
OMFG THANK YOU!
Usually I use this ID3 MP3 tag editor app on iTunes. http://www.leawo.org/tutorial/best-mp3-tag-editors.html
Seems like you signed up just to post a link to a roundup of Windows apps. Congrats on the page click, but I'm not sure if you're a bot or not.
Not sure what kind of music you are organizing, but in my spare time I DJ, and I use Pioneer's Rekordbox to edit ID3 tags and it works great for me, and it is free! http://rekordbox.com/
Thanks for all the replies! I will most likely use mp3tag (the Mac port) primarily, but some of these other suggested apps look fantastic as well.
Doesn't iTunes already handle this?
I don't like the extra ID3 tags iTunes includes.
I haven't used many, but this app is so complete that i've never looked for another.
Allows you to change podcast release dates, which you can't do in iTunes (I like my ThisAmericanLife podcasts organized by date originally released).
I've tried this before and didn't like it. ):
I've been using Metadatics for quite a while now. Simple, powerful, has everything I've needed!
Jaikoz is pricey, but it works fantastic.
Seems to get the job done.
(And none of the 25,000+ songs in my collection are pirated. I bought a lot of CDs.)
TuneUp is one of the best I'm aware of http://tuneupmedia.com
