Sweet! That distortion hover is sick
Yeah it is. When you inspect it, you can see that it's a bunch of span elements with a 2px height staggered with transforms. Pretty creative.
Very. My favourite part of the site.
Anyone seen the creepy cartoon guy that pops up in the footer?
I thought the rooms would be much more interesting given the art direction of the website. Disappointed.
I'm sorry but this is horrific. It's very nicely designed, but nobody would actually want to stay in this place. It seems like some sort of haunted hotel.
I concur. The First image of the girl is an instant deal breaker.
yes, i want to stay at the hotel with the deranged ransom notes.
Exactly what I was thinking. Love it.
Seems like a hotel... for serial killers?
My first thought going here is 'Um, what? Is this supposed to freeze like this?' I can appreciate the art direction for this, but given the subject matter it feels like it should have been a gallery space, band, short film or just something other than a hotel.
First thought: The way the room info is tiled is confusing, or at least more complicated than informative. I wouldn't be surprised if most people thought there were +/- 2 rooms available, just given the lack of structure...also the "special rooms" are on another page. I basically missed that the first time through. I bet a lot of people do.
The other thing is...compare this to airbnb, our other speciality hotels like the Sou'wester in WA state. These both have a lot of pictures for each room. If you want your guests to find your accomodations special, for them to find somewhere that reflects their personality (or mood), then you need a good number of photos to give them that sense. Some of the rooms have a few photos. Every single one listed should have ~5, and they should include at least 2-3 that give a sense of the space.
All that said, I think it's a really great, fun site.
I think they are also hosting a roof top party for a festival next weekend in Amsterdam.
Art direction is cool—although I'm not crazy about the thicker boarders.
Great work here. I feel like the site captures the quirkiness of the hotel nicely.
