Best detail - when you select the brightness slider it actually previews the real brightness. Used to be super hard to get it just right.

I love this. Very nice improvement, imo. Hopefully we'll see a similar cleanup throughout the OS.

Here is the current iOS 7 screen for comparison.

Yes! They needed to tone down the amount of strokes, imo; I like it.

I think the change is so subtle if you aren't paying attention that it is easy to miss, especially for the non-design community. Just curious, why do you hate this? Is it because the change is too subtle and you would like to see a more apparent change between versions?

Definitely like the filled in shapes for brightness: they always struck me as extremely out of place in the Control Center.

Visually, the new buttons seem less "polished", but they’re definitely far more tappable.

I’d love to see what the tap action on those buttons looks like: there was always a big inconsistency in the highlighted states between the icons and Air Drop.

    Solid change, overall.

why do you say the new buttons are 'far more tappable'?

are you referring to the white fill for the buttons above the brightness slider?

Well this is subjective of course but I've had more than one user response during various UX research phases that point to “ghost” or border only buttons being a little harder to tap. The stronger fill makes it look a little more button esque.

It's like the subtle button changes introduced in 7.1 to make certain sections more tappable.

thanks. if I were to guess I would have said the same thing as well. I thought you were referring to the removal of lines around the icons.

Great change. They're moving in the right direction. Good to see they're recognizing the sloppy areas.

The borders did feel like overkill.

what's up with that bottom row of buttons? just a random assortment of system apps?

Quick access to system apps that you probably don't want on your home screen (or in the case of the flashlight, access to a feature that doesn't have an actual app).

Nice improvement! I've removed the divider lines on mine via jailbreak, it's nice to see something like that happening officially.

........... This was what comes to my mind when I see these "exemplary" comments by designers. :D

It's amazing how much design work by Apple is scrutinized by others. The smallest things.
