Thanks for sharing the article. If anyone would like to try the app, you can download it at:
Would love any feedback!
Note: there are some bugs w/ some animated GIFs and prospects that I've fixed - just waiting for the guys at Apple to approve it.
I haven't downloaded the app yet, but the article is great. Agree with leaning on great things like CocoaPods, and also reading AND then just getting cracking. The magical mixture of study/doing that works well for me (or theory/practice).
How was it making your first Swift app? Was it easy to pick up the language?
The app wasn't developed in Swift but from what I heard, it is much easier to pick up than Objective C, which is what I used.
I wouldn’t say that it is easier. Swift does a lot stuff behind the scenes, more than Objective-C. You still have to learn the concepts of OO programming and the Cocoa design patterns. Since the language is new and not at the first final release a lot of the Cocoa API don't feel like Swift programming and won’t for a long time.
Don’t be fooled by the simpler looking syntax. I’d say Swift is more complex than modern Objective-C.
